Each breeder hive contains a specific breeder queen to be used for grafting. We work these hives to stimulate egg laying, providing supplemental feed in periods of inclement weather. This provides age appropriate larva for the days we graft. Each breeder hive is individually numbered for our "Queen Trac" system. This allows us track not only queen types(Italian, Russian, Cordovan, Carniolan) but it also allows us to track individual mothers.
Each breeder hive is provided with sufficient comb (sufficient egg laying space). We do not us a Pritchard type cage but have the queens lay in regular comb.
Our grafting team comes with years of experience. We select the appropriate age larva from the breeder hives to graft into "JzBz grafting cups." Each grafting bar is tagged with our "Queen Trac" numbering system.
